When Eric and I worked in the same office we would often have lunch together and discuss baseball. I am a New York Mets fan, and I kind of had an obsession with the Mets ex- manager Bobby V. Every time the Mets would lose I would say things like “if they only had Bobby V back they would have won” Eric would always smile and get a kick out of my fandom. Years later Bobby V was named the new manager of the Boston Red Sox. At this point I hadn’t spoken to Eric in quite some time, then out of the blue I received a call from Eric. He told me ‘Hey Bobby V is the Red Sox manager, and you need to go see him on opening day this season, so I went ahead and got you 2 tickets, best seats in the house for the game.’
What an amazing and thoughtful act of kindness from a truly unique and wonderful man. For him to remember our conversations from years past and to think how much it would mean to me, and then to actually purchase tickets. To date it was one of the most thoughtful things ever done for me. I hope one day I can make someone feel as special as Eric made me feel in that moment. Every time I see Bobby V on TV, I think of Eric and remember fondly an amazing, thoughtful man. God Bless you Eric. Love ya.. Miss ya.
What a great story. Thank you so much for sharing that!
